The Dongo Kundu Bypass, also known as the Mombasa Southern Bypass Highway, is a 17.5-kilometer road project in Kenya that connects Mombasa Mainland West to Mombasa Mainland South, bypassing Mombasa Island and easing traffic congestion

Location: The bypass starts in the Miritini neighborhood, on the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway, approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Mombasa's central business district. 

• Key Features:

  • It features three major bridges, including the Mwache and Mteza bridges. 

  • The Mteza bridge stretches 1,440 meters. 

  • The bypass is part of the Mombasa Port Area Road Development Project, funded by the Japan International Corporation Agency.
