Before you arrive
Visa: You require a visa to enter Kenya ($50), which you can get online (evisa.go.ke).
Please do it in good time.

Passport: Your passport should be valid for 6 months from the date of arrival.

Travel Insurance: It is recommended to have a valid travel insurance (check your insurance cover).
Closest International Airport
Mombasa (MBA): Qatar Airways, Ethiopian, KLM, Lufthansa, Emirates, Kenya Airways (via NBO).
Domestic Airport Diani Beach
Alternatively, fly to Nairobi (NBO) and then domestic to the closest airport: Ukunda/ Diani. Domestic airlines to Ukunda and flight schedules from Nairobi (NBO) and Nairobi Wilson on: dianibeach.me
Train: You can also take a train (SGR) from Nairobi to Mombasa (tickets).
Taxi: 10 minutes from Diani Airport to the villa. Approximately 1.5hr from Mombasa airport or train station.

Immunisation:
You will require immunisation/ jabs (please consult your doctor or travel clinic).
Recommended immunisation here.
Diani is officially a Malaria area, but is up to you if you take anti-malarials.
FYI: anti-malaria pills are a lot cheaper in Kenya and can be bought at the pharmacy.
Covid Vaccination:
You must present proof that you have been fully vaccinated to enter Kenya check the latest: here.
In Kenya/ Diani
Health:
It is safe to eat food in different stalls and restaurant and the Diani tap water won’t kill you, but tastes of salt. Perfectly fine to brush your teeth fine. Ice cubs are safe too.
Make sure you clean your hands before eating - it is easy to pick up a stomach bug. If you have a stomach bug you can get an antiseptic pill at the pharmacy.
In case you get diarrhea it is most likely a stomach bug - don’t wait it out.

Safari
If you go on safari to Tsavo East/ West you will be picked up at 6.30am and spend a night and two days - at least - in the national park. It is about 4hrs drive to the game park.
Bring: sunscreen, sunglasses, sweater (for early morning drive), mosquito repellent, camera, hat (optional), and binoculars (if you have them).
A full “Out of Africa” outfit is not necessary. Normal Diani Beach wear is good enough.
Security
Diani Beach is safe, but don’t do anything you would not do back home.
At night, it is better not to walk alone on the beach or on empty roads.
There are plenty of Tuk Tuks, motor bikes and taxis to take you home at night.
The villa is on a secure compound within a gated community and has a day and night guard.
Getting Around
To get around in Diani you go can take a:
Tuk Tuk (day time): Ksh 70-90 shared/ Ksh 250 private.
Tuk Tuk (night time): approx. Ksh 350.
Motor bike (boda boda): Ksh 200 -250
Taxi: from about Ksh 600
At the Villa
You can have your clothes washed for Ksh 500 per load.
We can organise for our masseuse to come to the villa. We have a professional massage bed.
The massage in the comfort of your room is Ksh 2,000 for an hour+.
The villa runs on solar power and there is a solar socket in the hallway, veranda, and upstairs reception room.
Don’t use the solar sockets for hairdryers, irons and toasters etc. To prevent overloading or breaking the system and causing a blackout.
You will be responsible to pay for any damage caused (glasses, cups, plates, rooms etc).
