Wind Season

It's difficult to define the best season for kitesurfing in the UK, as there are a wide variety of spots and conditions throughout the year. Spring and summer are more enjoyable thanks to warmer water, but you can find sessions nearly year-round, depending on your comfort level and enthusiasm.

The prevailing wind direction is southwest (SW), and during summer, thermal sea breezes in the afternoons can boost the forecasted wind speed. In the UK, you can kitesurf in any wind direction all year long.

Kite Spots

London is surrounded by fantastic kite spots with reliable wind. Being an island, the UK offers kiting opportunities in any wind direction, and many of these spots are just a 1.5-2 hours' drive from anywhere in the city. Whether you're looking for a spot that suits your wind direction, skill level, or riding style, there's something for everyone.

Safety

Kiteboarding is a safe sport as long as you’re well-prepared and knowledgeable. Always take lessons from a certified school instead of teaching yourself. Make sure you never kite alone and gather information about the spot before heading out.

Always prioritize safety and familiarise yourself with the rules, especially at local beaches. Contact us for information on kitesurfing schools and tips for getting started.

Getting Around.

Car – The easiest way to get to the beach. Many kitesurfers in the community have cars and can offer rides, making it a great way to connect with others.

Train – The best kite spots accessible by train are Southend (via Fenchurch Street) and Lancing (via Waterloo or Victoria).

Underground – Ideal for meeting up with other kitesurfers who have cars (only).

Motorbike – A great option if you can carry your gear and brave the cold during the prime wind season.
